Chargers vs Browns

Chargers vs. Browns series history: Cleveland has been competitive in recent years But the Browns have been competitive for awhile, at least where the Chargers are concerned.

Chargers vs Browns

The Chargers have won three of the last five meetings between the teams, but four of those games have been decided by a field goal or less. That includes the matchup on Christmas Eve in 2016 that stood as the Browns only victory in 21 months.

The Chargers got revenge for that game last season, but they didn’t beat them in the fashion one would expect to beat a team that would finish the season 0-16. The Chargers won the game 19-10, but the Browns were in it most of the way.

However, dating back to 1992, the Chargers have won nine of the 12 games played between these teams and lead the all-time series 16-9-1. It’s only been in recent years where the Browns decided to play the Chargers tough.

However, despite the 26 games these teams have played against each other, the Browns have only won two or more games in a row once and that was between 1983 and 1986.

Of course, this new version of the Browns features a quarterback that has created a new level of hope within the “Rock and Roll Capital of the World”. Baker Mayfield has played great and to this point, has to be everything the Browns’ organization and its fanbase was hoping he would be with the No. 1 overall pick.

Though the Chargers have an 8-5-1 all-time record in games played in Cleveland, the Browns have won the last two games against them there and have a 2-0-1 record at home this season.

Despite what history suggests, the Chargers will need to be locked in for this game as the Browns, at least at this point in the season, are not a pushover.

Steelers vs Bengals

It’s prediction time, everyone. The Pittsburgh Steelers have clawed their way back to respectability with last week’s win over the Atlanta Falcons and this week are given a golden opportunity to make headway toward the top of the AFC North with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. But things won’t be easy.

Conner and the offensive line found their groove last week and it continues against the Bengals. Look for half of that to come as a receiver.

After throwing for more than 300 yards in each of the team’s first three games, Big Ben has been held in check the last two. But against their chief rivals, Roethlisberger will let it fly for big yards.

Defensive coordinator Keith Butler figured out this defense can be pretty darn dominant when they are more aggressive last week. Knocking Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton off his spot is the key to victory and the Steelers are going to do it with lots of blitzes.

It can’t all be good news. There is going to be so much emotion and so much physicality in this game, look for players to lose their cool and lack some discipline. Bank on most of these penalties coming on the defensive side of the football.

With all these weapons, the Steelers offense can practically pick and choose who they target in the red zone. And if you want to point to the biggest area of improvement this season with Randy Fichtner in charge it’s redzone efficiency. With that, expect Pittsburgh to find lots of ways to get scores.

Despite the fact the Steelers winning 14 of the last 17 and the last six in a row, the Steelers are looking up at the Bengals. But history matters and the Steelers know how to beat this team no matter how good the Bengals appear to be. The Steelers win a close win late 35-28.

Running back Devonta Freeman, who has missed three games this season because of a right knee injury, was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by head coach Dan Quinn because of multiple injuries.

Freeman has missed practice this week because of a bone contusion in one of his feet and Quinn said that he also is battling a groin injury.

The 5-foot-9, 209-pound Freeman rushed eight times for 32 yards — including a 20-yard run — in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, and has 14 carries for 68 yards and five receptions for 23 yards in three games this season.

Freeman, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, rushed for 36 yards on six carries in the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, but sustained the knee injury in that game and missed the next three.

The 26-year-old Freeman has rushed for 3,316 yards and 30 touchdowns in his career.

The new injuries aren’t expected to be long-term issues, but the Falcons are expected to give him enough time to return to full strength, rather than rushing him back.

With Freeman out, the Falcons (1-4) are expected to rely on versatile running back Tevin Coleman, with rookie Ito Smith coming on to spell him after getting off to a solid start in his first season.

Quinn also announced that defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (ankle) and lineman Derrick Shelby (groin) are also out for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

Colorado vs USC

The winner gets the inside track on the Pac-12 South title. The Buffaloes won’t have many better opportunities to beat the Trojans for the first time in a series dating to 1927, while USC is eager to assert itself in the division while remaining unbeaten at the Coliseum under coach Clay Helton.

Colorado WR Laviska Shenault vs. USC CB Iman Marshall. The Buffaloes’ sophomore pass-catcher leads the nation with 51 receptions for 708 yards, and he has six TD catches in five games after a monster performance against Arizona State last week. Marshall is the experienced veteran in the Trojans’ injury-depleted secondary, and he’ll have to lead some strong work to slow QB Steven Montez’s connection with Shenault.

Colorado: DL Mustafa Johnson. The right defensive end leads the Buffs with 4 ½ sacks and six other tackles for loss. Getting pressure on freshman QB J.T. Daniels will be a key to disrupting a USC passing game showing signs of proficiency.

USC: RB Aca’Cedric Ware. After three years spent largely behind Ronald Jones II at Tailback U., the senior has broken out with two 100-yard games, including 173 yards and two TDs last time out at Arizona.

USC has won 18 consecutive games at the Coliseum, including 13 straight against Pac-12 foes. … Colorado is off to its best start since 1998. The Buffs haven’t been 6-0 since 1994. … Montez is second nationally after completing 75.2 percent of his passes. … USC TE Josh Falo could face off against his brother, Colorado LB Nu’umotu Falo. Their parents will be in attendance. … USC has cumulatively outscored Colorado 419-169 in this series. … The Trojans are coming off their open date. … USC has never faced Colorado when the Buffaloes were unbeaten, except in the 1963 and 1964 season openers. … Recruiting 101: The Buffaloes have 40 players from California, while the Trojans have nobody from Colorado.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is nursing a knee injury. After Tagovailoa was in danger of missing this game, the diagnosis was that his knee injury was just a sprain; he returned to practice during the week, and is set to take on Mizzou on Saturday. In limited action last week, Tua completed 10 of his 13 passes for an astounding 334 yards and four touchdowns, improving his touchdown-interception ratio to a whopping 18:0.

Missouri quarterback Drew Lock has built himself a nice career. In four seasons, the senior has accumulated 10,182 passing yards and 82 touchdowns, which ranks sixth on the all-time SEC list.

One of Alabama’s defensive leaders, junior safety Deionte Thompson understands the threat Lock poses and the Tigers’ prolific receiving group poses.

The Crimson Tide defense will have to contain Lock. They will have to manage without junior cornerback Trevin Diggs, who sustained a foot fracture in last week’s win against Arkansas and is out indefinitely.

The Tigers come in vulnerable on defense. They allow 284.8 yards per game through the air, which ranks a paltry 96th in the nation.

Georgia vs LSU

LSU suffered its first loss of an otherwise impressive 2018 when it fell in Gainesville last week. That isn’t enough to crush head coach Ed Orgeron’s SEC title hopes — but a loss on Saturday against No. 2 Georgia would be.

Last week’s loss to Florida relinquished the Tigers’ claim to the top spot in the SEC West, and another could push Alabama out of reach even with a win over the Crimson Tide in November. They’ll have their mettle tested against a Bulldog team whose closest win in a 6-0 start was a 14-point triumph over Missouri.

Georgia vs LSU Live NCAA Football Free Tv

Georgia’s overpowering offense has made last year’s run to the National Championship Game look like no fluke, even without Sony Michel or Nick Chubb in the lineup. Jake Fromm’s averaging more than 10.5 yards per pass this fall and has recorded a 12:2 TD:INT ratio, while a tailback platoon led by Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift is racking up nearly 250 yards per game on six yards per carry. On Saturday, they’ll have to show out against UGA’s toughest test of the season so far — an LSU defense that’s already survived tests against two top-10 opponents to start its season.

The Bulldogs are the No. 2 team in the AP poll and No. 3 in the latest round of the S&P+ rankings. LSU sits at No. 19, as the computers clearly aren’t impressed with the Tigers’ early wins over Auburn and Miami as voters are. LSU is playing at home, has faced a tougher schedule so far, and has already beaten two top-10 teams in 2018. The spread says it’s a bad idea, but let’s say the Tigers win this one thanks to a late Cole Tracy field goal.

  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Location: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA
  • TV: CBS
  • Streaming: SEC on CBS, fuboTV
  • Odds: Georgia is favored by 7.5 points.

Georgia’s had a relatively easy path to 6-0, but that road winds through some icy, mountainous roads en route to another berth in the College Football Playoff. LSU is the beginning of a four-game stretch where the Bulldogs will face nothing but ranked opponents, including Florida, Kentucky, and Auburn. Losing in Death Valley could be the start of a spiral for UGA — but a win could be a launchpad that leads the team to an even better finish than 2017’s.
